Connex and YarraTrams have specific targets to earn extra from ‘violators’ –those who refuse to pay for public transports. Every few months a year officers ‘patrol’ on every routes and transports to check for tickets. Usually, they’re targeting foreigners (with characteristics: orientals, darker skin, awkward speech) for valid ticket inspection. Majority target is students.
